Pipe Technician

The City of Cumberland will be accepting applications for the position of Pipe Technician Entry Level in the Water Distribution Division of the Public Works Operations.
Minimum Requirements: a High School Diploma or G.E.D. Completion of the Pipe Technician I Certification Program. One or two years of previous experience of a mechanic, construction, or public works nature. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications. Must attain A valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within six (6) months of hire or employee will be terminated.
Responsibilities/Duties: This position requires an individual possessing the abilities and skills to perform a variety of routine tasks that take minimal levels of training regarding execution and safety while working in a team environment. Individuals are assigned to either the Waste Water Collection or Flood Control or Water Distribution Operations and may be required to perform duties in either branch during emergencies or other extraordinary circumstances. Employees are considered to be essential personnel and therefore must report to work as scheduled or required under all weather conditions.
Physical Requirements: Must be capable of lifting objects up to 90 pounds on a frequent basis and/or assuming awkward positions for long periods of time. There is a routine risk of exposures to various chemical, biological, electrical, noise, and all weather conditions.
Salary: $15.00 per hour.
