Job Summary:

Facilitates all electrical work as assigned, including project estimates, contractor coordination, project management and tracking work orders. Develops, oversees and continually refines electrical preventive maintenance program. Stays current with State and local electrical codes, updates and changes. Performs safety inspections.

  • Monitors and works with consultants on all traffic lights on campus. Serves as liasion with Miami-Dade County for all traffic lights outside campus. Maintains control of all lighting in parkign lot and garages. Upkeep of electrical lighting system, lamps, outdoor lighting, parkign lots and garages. Installs, repors an dmaintains motors, generators, transformers, wiring and other electrical systems.
  • Performs preventive maintenance on all electrical systems. Adheres to electrical codes, standards and regulations.
  • Installs, maintains and replaces IT and software technology equipment for the department
  • Maintains and replaces all call boxes on campus.
  • Assists with event operations including equipment set up and removal.
  • Performs essential duties in any emergencies such as hurricanes, public health emergencies, and/or any other university emergency closing. The employee is expected to be available to report to work as needed during university emergency closing with appropriate notification of a department administrator.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED and four (4) years of electrical experience.
  • Journeyman Electrician License required.

Departmental Requirements:

  • 4 years electrical work experience

End time: 10:30PM

  • Operating University Vehicles (all types)
  • Ladders/Lifts/ Elevated Platforms
  • Required to work outside more than one hour per day
