Description
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Haul loads following a strict schedule in order to maintain the timely delivery of the goods at the necessary locations
- Loads and unloads heavy construction and/or aggregate equipment from truck and/or trailer at the correct locations
- Conduct pre and post inspections of vehicles daily and promptly report and schedule vehicle maintenance as needed
- Maintain vehicle records, such as log books and fuel sheets
- Keeps equipment, vehicles, and work area clean and orderly
- Operates vehicles in a safe, legal, and responsible manner
- Maintains cleanliness of equipment, inside and out to a presentable level
- Completes all paperwork required for jobs, including all paperwork required by law
- Must be able to understand and how to use an electronic log book
- May perform other duties as directed by the Transportation Manager
ADDITIONAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- At least one year experience in hauling oversize loads required
- Maintain excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Moving experience of multiple axle combinations preferred
- Must have excellent customer service skills, both internal and external customers
- Must have excellent organizational skills
- Attain short- and long-term objectives through good planning
- Works in an efficient and effective manner
- Contributes to departmental and product line goals
- Must have a positive mental attitude
NATURE AND SCOPE OF JOB:
- Driving these vehicles may include overnight stays in various locations.
- Loading and unloading may require stepping up on to trailers and securing the load while maintaining balance
- Must be able to withstand awkward postures of forward bending/twisting to lift goods
- Requires the ability to lift 50-75 lbs or more
- Requires a valid Class A CDL, a clear driving record and the ability to maintain an insurable driving record; must have Double, Triple Endorsement on CDL
- Must be able to travel into Canada
- Must be able to operate heavy equipment
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Requires successful completion of DOT physical
