Hunter Grain has an excellent opportunity in its Agronomy Department. We are looking for an Agronomist. You must be self-motivated, hard-working, and have good time management & organizational skills. You must also have strong communication and customer relations skills.
Location: Hunter, ND
Purpose of this Position: This position answers directly to the agronomy manager and is responsible for running and maintaining the seed plant and all its inventories.
Responsibilities:
- Manage all seed lines and set up pricing with the agronomy manager.
- Create a plan with the agronomy team to promote the growth of the seed business while maintaining profitability.
- Maintain relationships with current customers and attain new business by calling on growers on a regular basis.
- Sell products supported by Hunter Grain that will best fit the needs of the customer.
- Perform routine scouting and give recommendations on a variety of cropping systems.
- Line up soil sampling with growers and help farmers understand results.
- Attend meetings to stay current on agricultural products.
- Set up plot tours and grower meetings to educate farmers on ways to improve profits on their farm.
- Plan, plant, maintain/monitor, harvest, and organize data for different plots to help with selling seed.
- Find tasks for the agronomy intern to perform to better his/her experience with the internship program.
- Help monitor inventory levels and communicate with agronomy manager and other agronomists to optimize space utilization and profitability.
- Communicate with agronomy manager and other Hunter Grain employees to maximize efficient use of facilities, equipment, and personnel.
- Perform other duties as assigned and work extended hours as needed to meet seasonal needs.
Basic Qualifications: (required)
- Bachelor's degree in an Agriculture program (additional years of experience may offset degree requirement)
- Acquire and maintain a custom applicators license (specifically ground core and seed treatment certificates)
Preferred Qualifications: (desired)
- 3+ years scouting experience
- 3+ years of agronomy sales - seed, fertilizer, chemicals
