What is Shipfitting?
A shipfitter is an enlisted or civilian person who works on materials such as high-tensile steel and high yield strength steel. Shipfitters fabricate, assemble and erect all structural parts of a ship, coordinate all fixed tank work performed on submarines and ships, and coordinate all sonar dome work.
What is Flux-Core Welding?
Flux-core welding offers greater penetration, which is good for working with thicker joints. It also allows the welder to travel in all directions and hold the torch in a number of directions. This makes it particularly suited to general repairs, shipbuilding, and other types of manufacturing.
