Epidemiologist III
The Mississippi State Department of Health, Office of Health Data & Research is seeking to fill an Epidemiologist III position. This is lead-level, professional work in the Epidemiologist series. Incumbents in this class lead project teams to conduct professional, scientific, and epidemiological assessments of considerable difficulty. The incumbent will conduct scientific research in newborn screening, genetic disorders, and child lead poisoning. The incumbent will participate in investigations and surveys that have national and statewide impact. Work involves designing, conducting, and the reporting of diseases and/or condition surveillance systems, collecting and analyzing data, developing health education materials, and performing expert consultations as well as developing program proposals and surveillance reports. Work is performed under the general supervision of an administrative superior.
Annual Salary: $54,332.31
Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in epidemiology, public health, statistics, bio-statistics, health planning, or health care administration; and five (5) years of experience directly related to the described duties (https://agency.governmentjobs.com/mississippi/default.cfm?action=viewclassspec&classSpecID=797149&agency=2153&viewOnly=yes)
Special Qualifications: A Master’s Degree or higher in Public Health, Epidemiology or Biostatistics with a minimum of three (3) years of directly related experience in data management and analysis using SAS, SUDAAN, or SPSS. Knowing and use of GIS are preferred.
