Highway Maintenance Section Manager
The role:
We are looking for someone to lead our efforts to keep Oregon’s roads safe. In this position, you will be responsible for managing the maintenance and basic operational activities of the highway and related facilities in Portland’s Baldock maintenance section. This involves management of personnel, assignment of resources and monitoring results to meet long- and short-term operational needs. A day in the life:
- Prioritize work to be accomplished, develop and manage budget and work calendar.
- Perform inspections of the transportation system, investigate problems and carry out solutions.
- Evaluate performance of crew members and ensure they are working safely with the proper training, equipment, and gear.
- Be on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week including holidays.
- Often work in harsh weather conditions, heavy traffic conditions and may work around hazardous materials.

What we need:
Five years of experience in supervision, staff-technical, or professional-level work related to highway construction, maintenance and/or operations.
Additionally, you must possess a current, valid commercial driver's license A (CDL-A) OR have the ability to acquire one within six months of hire (ODOT will cover training and costs) to be considered eligible for this position. A valid driver license and an acceptable driving record are required for this position.
This position reports to the Baldock maintenance office, 9637 SW 35th Dr, Portland, OR 97219 with a maximum 30-minute response time for emergency call-outs.
