Endpoint Administrator, Public Safety & Telecommunications

 

DEPARTMENT: Information Technology Services

 

REPORTS TO: Director, Administrative Systems and User Services

 

PRIMARY FUNCTION: To manage software and hardware used in the Public Safety and Telecommunications departments including, but not limited to Ccure, PBX management, Victor and current VoIP system. To support the users of these tools onsite or remotely as necessary, with emphasis on the safety of the university community.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Computer Science-related field from an accredited university preferred, 2-5 years’ experience in a team-oriented, collaborative environment; high self-motivation with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical information to nontechnical personnel in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Strong problem-solving skills. Must be able to apply troubleshooting best practices and technical expertise to solve complex technical problems.
  • Experience supporting and configuring computer hardware, software, printers, and user accounts on both Mac and PC operating systems.
  • Experience supporting web browsers, mobile devices, and network connections.
  • Working knowledge of Active Directory, ticketing systems, and Remote Support tools.
  • Able to perform basic repairs on computer hardware and printers
  • Strong organization and note taking skills

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide expertise and technical knowledge about university applications for Public Safety systems.
  • Provide expertise and technical knowledge about university telecommunication for both VoIP and analog systems.
  • Troubleshoot emergent issues with public safety and telecommunication systems.
  • Solve any critical issues promptly and thoroughly.
  • Coordinate updates with the IT Help Desk and End Point team.
  • Coordinate Public Safety needs with the IT teams to provide a path forward.
  • Manage and oversee the appropriate user/permission strategy for all systems and equipment

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Mobility within the office. Ability to walk, sit, stand and climb stairs. Ability to use hands and fingers, to handle office equipment, records and files. Occasionally required to reach with arms and hands, and to stoop, kneel or crouch. Vision abilities required by this job include the ability to read and discern written errors on paper and electronic documents. Ability to talk and hear. Ability to lift up to 15 pounds.
