Job Description

Rappahannock Community College (RCC) is a two-campus institution serving a rural and diverse 12-county area in the Chesapeake Bay region of Virginia, whose mission is to provide inclusive access to exceptional training and educational opportunities meeting the community’s needs and preparing individuals for success as learners, employees, and citizens. Under the direction of the Vice President of Finance and Administrative Services, the Controller provides technical assistance in the development of College-wide budgets and financial reports for a variety of complex fund types. Oversees, the recording of state appropriations and allocations. Updates multiple spreadsheets and schedules. Manages the daily approvals and fiscal activities of the Business Office, which includes, procurement, accounts receivable, accounts payables, grants, and cashier functions. Enforces policies and procedures that promote efficiencies and appropriate use of college resources. Serves as RCC liaison with VCCS, SSC, banks, private organizations and other state and federal agencies. Responsible for the coordination of the annual audit and preparation of the year-end Financial reports. The incumbent will serve on committees and work closely with senior leaders in cross functional areas of the college.

 

KSA's/Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in business or accounting
  • Supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of fund accounting reporting and practices, principles and theories as required
  • Financial management, forecasting and long-range planning skills
  • Budget development
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and ability to create complex spreadsheets, charts, and tables
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree
  • Higher education and/or state experience
  • Ability to think strategically
  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft, Cardinal and Black baud
  • Knowledge of VCCS processes and procedures.
