Title: Banquet Supervisor
Reports to: Operations Manager- Lifestyle & Fitness FLSA
Status: Exempt Supervise Others: Yes
Primary Responsibilities: Is an articulate, energetic people-person who ensures that all customers are serviced in a responsive and courteous manner. In this role your responsibilities will include but are not limited to, providing the highest degree of service to include oversight in the accurate and timely preparation of individual banquet event orders, proper care and handling of all association property, updated property inventories, team work schedules and payroll approvals while demonstrating the associated proficiency in communication, grammar and computer software. All duties are accomplished with the highest degree of courtesy and professionalism.
Skill Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree preferred
- 3 - 5 years experience in fast paced event planning, hospitality or comparable job setting - Strong management abilities
Duties and Responsibilities
- Monitor daily operations of Banquet/event team to include but not limited to inventory control, housekeeping, scheduling, equipment maintenance.
- Provide support and guidance to ensure successful and effective operations.
- Review daily Banquet Event Order sheets
- Meet with Room Rental Specialist regularly to review upcoming banquet/events to determine appropriate staffing and effectively communicate requests and requirements to set-up staff to ensure a positive and successful meeting/event.
- Responsible for maintaining positive resident/client relationships.
- Scheduling and payroll approval
- Will oversee the set-up phone to ensure accurate and timely room setups, while holding the correct associate responsible.
- Responsible for the appropriate and timely setup of all functions and meetings while maintaining standards of banquet/event specifications.
- Development and maintenance of all policies and procedures and standards of quality within the department utilizing a continuous improvement approach to ensure a high quality, cost effective and customer focused operation.
- Development and implementation of ongoing training plan to ensure high quality presentation and level of customer service within the banquet/event function of staff members.
- Give daily support and guidance to team as well as monitor job performance to ensure a successful banquet/event experience.
- Inspect and oversee cleanliness and maintenance of all function space, public space, service areas and all banquet/event service levels.
- Maintain solid and open communications with all association departments.
- Will work nights and weekends as needed (mandatory).
- Other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
- Capable of working extended hours, to include evenings, weekends and holidays as necessary.
- Able to see well enough to read faint or partially obscured writing or printing, with corrective lenses if needed.
- Must be able to speak English in a clear and understandable voice so that various types of communications may be conducted with people of various levels of education and capabilities, to include the exchange and receipt of information over the telephone.
- Position involves sitting, standing, stooping, kneeling, pushing, shoving, lifting, carrying and moving objects that can weigh up to 50 lbs. This movement can occur throughout the day. Must also be able to climb several flights of stairs if necessary.
- This position will alternate between working indoors in a controlled climate and with proper lighting, to an outdoors setting with variable climate and lighting.
- Must be able to interact with all types of individuals, be mentally alert, detail oriented, and with good reasoning skills.
- Must be able to work in small and confined spaces for extended periods of time.
- Must have finger dexterity for typing/using a keyboard.
Environmental Requirements
- Must be able to work on more than one assignment at a time with frequent interruptions, changes and delays. Must be able to remain focused and work effectively, efficiently, and cheerfully under such circumstances. For safety reasons, employee must remain alert to working conditions and aware of safety, health, and environmental concerns.
- Must be able to work effectively and cheerfully in an environment which may be stressful due to adversarial situations resulting from the proper performance of duties.
