Responsibilities
The Veterans Administration Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota seeks Board Certified/Board Eligible anesthesiologist to join an expanding clinical practice. The Minneapolis VAMC provides cutting-edge surgical and procedural care to veterans ranging from common outpatient procedures to complex cardiovascular, thoracic, general surgical, ENT, urologic, orthopedic, plastic and reconstructive, vascular, and gynecologic surgery. Position requires training/experience in the management of acute perioperative pain including the performance of peripheral nerve blocks under ultrasound guidance; competence in the placement of advanced central monitoring catheters using ultrasound guidance; training/experience managing difficult airways utilizing advanced airway management techniques; experience supervising/teaching residents, fellows and student nurse anesthetists; and training/credentials sufficient to support eligibility for an academic appointment with the University of Minnesota.
Additional training or experience in cardiac anesthesia and TEE is preferred. Duties include the provision of clinical anesthesia services in directing/supervising Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists or residents in an Anesthesia Care Team Model. Workweek is Monday through Friday with evening, night, weekend and holiday call shared equally with staff anesthesiologists.
