Job Description:
The Atmospheric Sciences Research Center (ASRC) at the University at Albany (UAlbany), State University of New York (SUNY) seeks to hire a Research Facilitator to liaise with UAlbany's Sponsored Programs Administration and RF Human Resources, to assist with day-to-day post-award transactions that help faculty manage their research awards in compliance with the applicable rules and regulations imposed by federal, state, and private sponsors, the Research Foundation of SUNY, and the University at Albany.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Processing personnel appointments (undergraduates, graduates, post-docs, regular employees, and researchers' summer salaries) including dealing with change forms, labor distribution, payroll, and other needed forms.
- Assisting international visitors in obtaining visas. This includes working directly with Research Foundation Human Resources and International Student Scholar Services to coordinate necessary forms in time with their arrival and to monitor their status.
- Purchasing, paying tuition and performing monthly p-card reconciliations. Assist Research Foundation billing staff explain expenses to sponsors when needed.
- Monitor account expenditures utilizing the Research Foundation Report Center.
- Provide account summaries to PIs on a quarterly basis or as needed, specifically during the last 2-3 months prior to award termination.
- Booking travel and processing reimbursements for faculty, staff and students traveling on sponsored awards.
- Perform submitted proposal budget reviews to assist faculty in determining if expenses can be charged to an award.
- Perform effort certifications, submit at-risk requests, and other varied tasks as needed.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting institution
- At least one year of relevant work experience and the ability to work in a fast paced, critical task driven environment
- Budgeting, grant management and/or purchasing experience
- Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, Adobe, business tools, including computer applications related to budget activities
- Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills with an ability to set priorities, be flexible, highly organized and detail-oriented
- Applicants must demonstrate an ability to develop inclusive and equitable relationships within our diverse campus community
- Applicants must demonstrate an ability to support diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and belonging relative to their role
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with sponsored grant terms and conditions
- Efficient and effective management of multiple awards
- Working independently and as part of a team, under deadlines
