Senior Information Security Engineer
The University of North Carolina at Charlotte is seeking applications for a Senior Information Security Engineer for the Office of OneIT. The Office of OneIT provides highly reliable information technology infrastructure, tools, and services to empower the University to achieve its academic, research, administrative, and service goals.
Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in computer science, computer engineering, information security, or other closely related field from an appropriately accredited institution; or bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and five years of experience in IT security or closely related area or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Essential Job Duties: In accordance with UNC Charlotte’s Information Security Program (ISP), as the Senior Information Security Engineer, you report directly to the Chief Information Security Officer and serve as a key member of a team focused on three primary functions: Security Engineering; Security Engineering Operations; and Incident Response. In this role, you are a part of a talented and creative information security team as we work with stakeholders to enhance the University’s overall security posture, by:
- Mentoring and serving as an escalation point for junior team members, fostering their development and growth and being involved in the team’s day-to-day operations.
- Monitor and maintain core security infrastructure.
- Develop, implement, test, and maintain effective and efficient cyber threat hunting strategies, tactics, and operations to provide a higher degree of prevention, detection, and response capabilities.
- Architect and design security solutions such as SIEM, SOAR, intrusion detection and prevention systems, endpoint security, email security, and network security solutions.
